Man with Gun Robs Warminster Bank

Story Updated November 6 at 1:00 p.m.  The FBI and Warminster police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. at the First Niagara Bank branch on West Street Road near Thurnderbird Lanes, a man wearing a surgical walked in the bank with a gun and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

TheReporteronline.com reports that the robber pulled a gun on bank staff, jumped the counter and dumped the money from the drawers into a plastic grocery store bag before escaping out the back door of the bank.

A BuxMontNews.com reader who knew someone in the bank at the time commented, "He demanded tellers to give to him and to hurry! Then he jumped counter to go out back door."

Phillyburbs.com reports an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the bank.

The suspect is a tall black male in his 20’s or 30’s who was wearing a red baseball cap with a logo, a dark coat and a pair of white gloves.

Authorities tell the website man behind the afternoon robbery is considered, “Armed and Dangerous.”

Traffic Accident on Street Rd. Snarles Morning Rush

At sunrise this morning on Street Road near Davisville Road in Warminster a three car accident snarled traffic in both directions.

An ambulance was on scene and whisked someone away but the  Warminster Ambulance Corps. released no information as of this afternoon.

This is the second serious auto accident in Warminster in the past few days an accident Saturday night slowed traffic on York Road.

Accident Slows Traffic on York Road

Accident Slows Traffic at County Line and Centennial

A vehicle accident at County Line and Centennial Roads in Warminster slowed northbound traffic last night. When reached for comment Warminster police could not immediatly comment on any injuries or the cause of the accident. (Tom Sofield)

  

Attempted Luring Reported at Soccer Game

The Warminster Soccer Club and Warminster police announced late this week that a man dressed as a referee tried to get a young girl to go with him during a September 25 soccer game at Munro Park on Newtown Road.

The man was described as older white man who had white hair and glasses. He was dressed in a yellow/black stripped referee shirt.

The 4-year-old girl reported to the attempted luring to a nearby mother.

When club officials were notified they checked on who the refs were that day and no one matching the girls description of a older man with white hair refereed that day. That’s when Warminster police got involved.

Warminster Township police are looking for any information on the incident and if you have any you are urged to contact police Sgt. Carol Battistini at 215-443-5000.

Fire Damages Warminster Condo; No Injuries

Warminster police and fire crews investigate a condo fire which destroyed the first floor condo at Meadowood Condominiums on Street and Valley Roads. The fire left no one injured but several people from the building were evacuated, the Red Cross arrived to provide help for the evacuated residents. On the scene last night Warminster police said no cause for the fire had been determined yet. (Tom Sofield)

Jeep Crashes Into Warminster 7-11

A Jeep crashed into the front of the 7-11 convenience store on York Road near Hartsville in Warminster shortly after 7 p.m.

No one was reported to be hurt but the front of the 7-11 suffered damage including large broken windows.

A 7-11 employee at the counter Friday night had no comment on the accident.

Scanner reports indicate the Jeep fled the scene and police are still looking for the blue Jeep.

Power Problems Plauge SEPTA...Again

Update 9:56 a.m.: SEPTA is now reporting all trains are either on time to or close to it.

For the third time in two months problems with power supply are affecting SEPTA's Regional Rail Line.

All lines including the Warminster Line at experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes.

The West Trenton line is facing delays of up to an hour.

The Philadelphia Inquirer Reports that the delays were caused by a fuse problem near the Jenkintown Station.

The previous two times power problems were caused by Amtrak power issues but still affected the SEPTA system.

Man from Ivyland Charged With Stealing Warminster 7-11 Donation Jar

Warminster police have filed charges against 23 year old William George Bacchino who lives on Jacksonville Road in Ivyland Borough after it was discovered he stole a donation jar on the counter of the 7-11 on Street Road in Warminster.

The jar taken on July 18th of this year, contained donations to pay for medical expenses for Christine McGhee a young woman who suffered serious brain injuries after being hit by a pick-up truck at Kutztown University in late 2008.

The 7-11 had surveillance cameras installed and they captured video of the theft. Police distributed the video to local news outlets which broadcast the images of the suspect.

The jar was stolen once before in May of 2010 by two women who were caught shortly after taking the donation jar.

A hearing for Bacchino is scheduled for October 22nd.

Car Accident at Van Horn and Jacksonville in Warminster

Neighbors in who live near Jacksonville Road and Van Horn Drive in the Warminster Heights section of Warminster say shortly after noon a loud “crash” was heard and when they came out two mangled blue cars with passengers inside rested in a debris field of shattered glass and broken plastic.

Early scanner reports said that a 19 year old man received head lacerations and a 35 year old man complaining of chest pains were rushed to the hospital by members of the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad.

Locals say that three cars were involved and the two blue cars were in the worst condition.

Warminster Heights residents watched as EMT’s put a heavier set man onto a stretcher and load him into an ambulance.

Warminster and Hatboro police blocked Jacksonville Road between County Line and the Warminster Train Station.

Residents of the government subsidized Charter Arms Independent Living Retirement Home on Potter Street which is located near the accident waited at the SEPTA bus stop wondering if the bus would come because its usual route was blocked by the closure of Jacksonville Road.

Officer Vargo of the Warminster Police Department said, “The accident should be cleared shortly.”

Two Young Children Struck by Car in Warminster

Two young children under the age of 10 were struck by a car near York Rd. and Prospect Rd. in Warminster shortly after four Monday afternoon.

One child, a girl, was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital and the boy was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The boy whose name was not released was listed in critical condition and a call to the hospital for an update on the child’s condition was left unanswered.

The two younger children were following a younger sister who was crossing York Rd., when the accident occurred.

The driver of the vehicle who hit the two young children stopped and cooperated with Warminster Police.

This accident occurred under a mile away from where a car hit a woman and her four year old niece as they were crossing at the intersection of York and Street Rd. in March of this year.
