The Lower Moreland School District posted a letter to parents on its website today after police announced the arrest of Muarry Avenue School assistant principal Charles D. Hurst for “endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of the morals of a minor, and other related charges.”

The 13 year old boy Hurst is accused of having an inappropriate relationship was a student in the North Penn School District where he previously worked.

The boy and Hurst never engaged in a physical relationship.

Hurst became assistant principal of the Muarry Avenue School in July 2010. District officials say they released Hurst last Friday after reports of the relationship began.

Hurst, 37, was arrested by Montgomery Township police at his residence.

In the letter the Lower Moreland School District says at the time his hiring Hurst passed all required checks and when hired had never been charged with a crime.
